Winter Storm Jonas: Airlines Waiving Cancellation/Change Fees
The year’s first major winter storm is bearing down the East Coast and airlines are already preparing.
Winter Storm Jonas is expected to hit major East Coast cities—including New York, Philadelphia, Boston, Washington D.C., and Baltimore— between Friday and Sunday morning and bring heavy snow and freezing temperatures, according to the National Weather Service.
American Airlines, Delta Air Lines, Southwest Airlines, JetBlue, United Airlines, and Frontier all will allow passengers to change or cancel tickets at no extra cost.
Delta is offering the policy on all canceled or heavily delayed flights scheduled from Jan. 24-26. American is issuing the new rules for tristate and northeast airlines through Jan. 24. JetBlue is waiving fees through Jan. 23 at Washington D.C. airports.
Though meteorologists are still unsure of the track the storm will take, some expect as much as 20 inches of snow in cities like Baltimore and Washington D.C.
