Club Med Punta Cana Reopens After 2-Month Closure from Fire

Club Med Punta Cana reopened on Nov. 9, after closing for nearly two months due to fire damage.

A fire broke out in the resort center in the early morning on Sept. 12. No serious injuries were reported, and it was put out quickly. However, the resort center sustained significant damage, causing Club Med to temporarily close the Dominican Republic resort for guests’ safety.  

Guest rooms, restaurants, and public spaces were not impacted by the fire. All resort offerings, including dining, kids club programming, and other activities, have now been restored.

“Guests will once again enjoy the full range of amenities that make Club Med Punta Cana our family flagship resort in the Dominican Republic,” Club Med said in a statement. “This includes Club Med’s full range of Children’s Clubs (4 months-17 years), dining at the oceanfront Hispaniola and Indigo restaurants, participating in exhilarating activities at the Circus School, and unwinding at the exclusive adult-only Zen Oasis or in the comfort of the 5-star Exclusive Collection Space. All of this is set against the stunning backdrop of one of the Dominican Republic’s most pristine, palm-lined beaches with endless ocean views.”
