Barbados Celebrates Halifax Flights with Blue Nose Marathon Sponsorship

Barbados Celebrates Halifax Flights with Blue Nose Marathon Sponsorship

Barbados Tourism Marketing Inc. (BTMI) wants Atlantic Canadians to run toward Barbados, and it is putting its money where its mouth is by becoming the official destination partner of Halifax’s Blue Nose Marathon for the next three years.

The announcement comes a month after the news that Air Canada will launch seasonal nonstop flights from Halifax to Barbados once weekly beginning December 17.

The Barbados tourism promoter believes the sponsorship will strengthen its presence in Atlantic Canada and connect with one of the country’s most active and travel-minded communities.

The Blue Nose Marathon, known as ‘the people’s marathon,’ is the signature event of Blue Nose. This event welcomes all ages, abilities and fitness levels traditionally occurring annually on Victoria Day weekend. This year’s event will take place from May 15-17.

As an official partner, Barbados will engage with thousands of runners, spectators, and supporters throughout the marathon weekend, showcasing the island as more than just a winter sun destination, but as a year-round getaway where wellness, adventure, and culture come together.

The partnership reflects Barbados’ growing focus on active travel and experiential tourism for Canadian visitors, particularly in key regional markets like Atlantic Canada. It also supports Barbados’ broader strategy to deepen connections in the Canadian market through high-impact initiatives that align with travellers’ lifestyles and interests.

“Canada remains one of our most important source markets, and Atlantic Canada continues to show strong interest in Barbados as a destination for meaningful, experience-led travel,” said Eusi Skeete, Director for Canada at Barbados Tourism Marketing Inc.

“Partnering with the Blue Nose Marathon allows us to meet Canadians where their passions lie and Barbados is ideally positioned as a place where those passions can continue long after the finish line. Whether travellers come to train, recharge or celebrate, Barbados offers the ideal blend of active living and island escape.”

“We are excited to welcome Barbados as the Official Destination Partner of the Blue Nose Marathon for the next three years,” says Sherri Robbins, Executive Director, Blue Nose Marathon.

“This partnership brings together two vibrant communities that value wellness, culture, tourism, and connection. We look forward to creating new experiences for our participants while showcasing Barbados as an incredible destination for active travellers.”
