Delta Adds Two New Routes Out of NYC, Plus Another Winter Flight

Delta Air Lines this weekend unveiled an expansion out of the New York market with two new routes, including one that fills a gap recently left by JetBlue.

Starting next spring, Delta will offer twice-daily service between Newark Liberty International Airport (EWR) and Los Angeles International Airport (LAX). The transcontinental route effectively replaces service that JetBlue recently dropped. Delta will operate the flights using its Airbus A321neo aircraft beginning April 12, 2027.

Ahead of that spring launch, Delta will add winter seasonal service between New York’s LaGuardia Airport (LGA) and Melbourne Orlando International Airport (MLB) starting Dec. 19, 2026. That route will operate on Saturdays and Sundays through May 2, 2027.

Outside of New York, Delta is also adding a new winter corridor between Austin-Bergstrom International Airport (AUS) and Southwest Florida International Airport (RSW) in Fort Myers. Delta will fly that route on Saturdays only between Nov. 21, 2026, and April 10, 2027.

The JetBlue pullback that paved the way for Delta’s new Newark flight is part of a broader geographic pivot for the carrier. JetBlue is currently reallocating aircraft to fund an expansion in South Florida, reducing service in the New York area, and closing its Newark inflight crew base.
