New research by Hyatt’s Inclusive Collection reveals how Canadian couples picture the ideal honeymoon, from when they travel to how they spend their time once they arrive
The research found that couples are setting high expectations for the modern honeymoon, with the ideal getaway lasting nearly two weeks and coming with a budget of almost $10,000.
The research found that Canadian respondents envision an ideal honeymoon spanning 12 days, with a budget of approximately $9,693. When it comes to how they want to spend that time, all-inclusive resorts topped the list of honeymoon experiences at 25%, ahead of beach vacations and adults-only resorts.
For younger Canadians, those expectations climb even higher. Respondents ages 18 to 24 envision an ideal honeymoon lasting 15 days, with a budget of $13,811.

When and how couples’ honeymoon can look very different depending on the trip they want to create. More than half of Canadian respondents (51%) are interested in an “early-moon,” taking time away together before the wedding, while 46% would consider a shorter “mini-moon,” with the option for more travel later. For 35%, the guest list can extend to the getaway itself, with couples considering a “buddy-moon” that includes friends or family for part of the trip.
A honeymoon may be a once-in-a-lifetime getaway, but choosing where to take it comes down to some very real considerations, both romantic and practical. Weather tops the list of destination influences at 50%, with value for money close behind at 46%.
Once they arrive, couples are clear about the kind of stay they want. All-inclusive resorts rank as the No. 1 honeymoon experience among Canadian respondents at 25%, making convenience and flexibility an important part of the ideal getaway.
For a trip lasting nearly two weeks, ease is critical. Hyatt Inclusive Collection says an all-inclusive setting brings accommodations, dining and activities together in one place, reducing day-to-day decisions and giving couples more freedom to spend their time as they choose.
Hyatt’s Inclusive Collection is well positioned to meet that need, with a portfolio of 150 resorts and nearly 58,000 rooms across 11 brands in 14 countries throughout Latin America, the Caribbean and Europe.
“After months of planning a wedding, the honeymoon shouldn’t feel like one more thing to manage,” said Brad Cirino, Regional Vice President, MICE/Group, Hyatt’s Inclusive Collection.
“Couples are investing significant time and budget in this trip, but once they arrive, they want the freedom to enjoy it, whether that means a full day of experiences or no plans at all. An all- inclusive stay makes room for both.”
Hyatt’s Inclusive Collection builds on that experience with its complimentary Honeymoon Bliss package, available with eligible bookings of seven nights or more. The package includes a couples spa treatment, a private beachfront dinner and breakfast in bed, along with a complimentary additional night when couples return to celebrate their first anniversary.
