Celestyal, which previously announced cancellations of the March 2 sailing of Celestyal Journey, has canceled all of the ship’s remaining “Desert Days” sailings scheduled for this year including the March 7, 9, 14, and 16 departures.
The cancellations come as the U.S. State Department raised the Travel Advisor level of every country on Journey’s itinerary to Level 3: Reconsider Travel. This includes United Arab Emirates, Bahrain, and Qatar.
“We continue to follow developments in the Middle East and remain in regular contact with the relevant authorities. Throughout this period, our focus has been and continues to be the safety and wellbeing of our guests and crew,” the line said in a statement.
All guests who were due to travel on the canceled sailings will be offered the option of a full refund or a future cruise credit.
With Celestyal’s Arabian Gulf season – for both Celestyal Journey and Celestyal Discovery – now over, the cruise line looks to reposition its ships back to Athens to begin its scheduled Mediterranean season. However, with the Strait of Hormuz currently closes it is unclear when the ships will be able to reposition.
“We sincerely thank our guests and partners for their patience and understanding during this evolving situation,” the line said.
