Four Seasons In Downtown New York To Open Next Month

Four Seasons Hotel New York Downtown has confirmed Sept. 12 as its official opening, executives told Travel Market Report.

Located at 27 Barclay Street, the second Manhattan property for the Toronto-based group will compete against Ritz-Carlton in Battery Park, Trump Soho and the nearby Conrad, as well as the area’s growing number of boutique properties. It will also be convenient for clients who have business with the nearby courts at Foley Square, Wall Street, the Federal Reserve and occupants in the Freedom Tower a block away.

For leisure, it will have access to the biking and walking paths along the Hudson River. I’s walking distance to South Street Seaport, Tribeca and the 9/11 Memorial, and provides easy access to Brooklyn and the Meatpacking District.

Its 189 rooms and suites are on the first 24 floors of the 82-story building, with residences on the upper floors. Wolfgang Puck will open his first New York restaurant at the hotel, and there will be a 75-foot-long lap pool and a spa, including couples room. Twenty-four hour room service will offer the full menu at all times.

Travel agents are excited about the new option. Jaclyn Sienna India of Sienna Charles said, “I loved the look of the rooms. I like how they’ve re-thought the service processes.” Fischer Travel Enterprise’s Stacy Fischer-Rosenthal said, “It’s going to be a great addition for the area.”

Jack Bloch of JB’s World Travel Consultant said he is happy to see lower Manhattan get another luxury option. “There’s definitely a demand for it,” he said.
