Japan Sees Uptick in Inbound Tourism
Japan’s travel industry marked its second straight year of 6% growth in inbound tourism, according to a new report from Phocuswright, and reached $81 billion in total travel market and online leisure and unmanaged business travel bookings.
By 2017, Phocuswright predicts, the number will exceed $92 billion—and make Japan the second-biggest travel market in the Asia Pacific region. A majority of the travel comes from Chinese tourists, who accounted for more than one-third of the increase.
