REAL Travel Event in Mexico Focuses on Specialty and Niche Markets
by Jessica Montevago /The REAL Travel Event and the LOVE Mexico show are wrapping up after four successful days of seminars focusing on romance, experience, adventure, and lifestyle – including luxury and LGBT travel – niche markets.
Travel Market Report partnered with MeWed, the founders of Love Mexico, to create a new show that focuses on educating and training agents.
Nearly 400 agents, planners, and exhibitors gathered at the Moon Palace in Riviera Maya to attend educational sessions and one-on-one appointments with exhibitors, and listen to a host of speakers, including John Bradshaw, Ian Johnson, and Mark Chestnut.
No matter what the specialty, there was something for everyone. Program events included participating in a wedding, attending a local culinary demonstration, visiting a property that focuses on the LGBT community, going to an adventure park in Mexico, and experiencing luxury activities and amenities.
Susan M. Kruk, owner of Diplomat Travel, said the events “are a great way to experience places your clients will visit with your peers, so you’re constantly learning.”
Seminars highlighted managing small business as a “solopreneur” in the destination wedding and romance travel industry, insight on bridal media, and how to be successful in the LGBT tourism industry.
Overall, Stacy Norell of Extraordinary Destination Weddings said, “this conference experience has been extremely valuable and enlightening in helping me grow my business.”
