Strong Dollar Boosts Travel To The U.K.
by Jessica Montevago /The United Kingdom saw an increase in inbound tourism, largely due to the drop in value of the British pound against the U.S. dollar, VisitBritain reported on Monday.
More than 3 million tourists visited the United Kingdom in November 2016, up 17% over November 2015, and the number of North American travelers was up 28%. In 2017, the latest data shows that bookings are up 10% for January to March compared to the same period last year.
VisitBritain’s expects the overall inbound tourism growth to continue.
VisitBritain announced earlier this month that Steve Ridgway will assume the role of chairman effective April 1. He previously worked for Virgin Atlantic for more than 23 years, most recently serving as CEO.
