Nobu to Open Its First Countryside Hotel in England
by Briana Bonfiglio
Nobu Hospitality has just announced plans to open a Nobu hotel, restaurant, and branded residences on 185 acres of countryside in Rutland, England.
This will be a change of pace for Nobu, marking its first-ever countryside project, as Nobu’s current hotels are nearly all located in big cities around the world. Nobu will work in partnership with the current property, Woolfox, which currently operates a social club, and incorporate some aspects of the membership into the new iteration of the retreat.
“This is a truly special location in the heart of England, surrounded by rolling historic landscapes and quintessential English countryside,” said Trevor Horwell, CEO of Nobu Hospitality. “For the first time within our portfolio, we have the opportunity at Nobu Woolfox to create a special countryside retreat experience – one that offers all the hallmarks of Nobu, but in a setting defined by nature, tranquility, and a sense of escape.”
Nobu Woolfox will feature lakeview rooms and suites; a dedicated spa, swimming pool, and gym; branded residences; a signature Nobu restaurant and bar; and other curated food and beverage options.
The destination is set near Rutland Water, one of Europe’s largest manmade reservoirs, where guests, residents, and members will have direct access to water sports, sailing, and fly fishing. The landscape also offers scenic hiking and cycling trails.
The property is about two hours north of London, two hours south of Manchester, and about one hour from Birmingham and Cambridge in either direction.
