South Korea Unveils Digital Nomad Visa Program
by Briana Bonfiglio /South Korea has introduced a digital nomad visa, which will allow travelers to stay in the country for an extended period for a workcation.
The new visa is for remote professionals and their families who want to spend a longer amount of time – up to two years – in the country.
“Launching the Digital Nomad Visa Program is a milestone in our efforts to invite the world to discover the vibrant life and technological excellence South Korea offers,” said Jaesok Park, the executive director of Korea Tourism Organization, NY. “Our nation’s fast-paced cities, serene countryside, advanced industries, and cultural heritage await those ready to embark on a unique journey of work and discovery.”
To be eligible for a F-1-D Workcation (digital nomad) visa in South Korea, travelers must be 18 or older and have worked in the same industry for at least one year, work for a company abroad, earn more than twice Korea’s annual gross average income (85 million won in 2023), and have medical insurance covering at least 100 million won.
