CEO of The Standard Hotels to Step Down After Sale to Hyatt
by Briana Bonfiglio /Amber Asher, CEO of The Standard, will step down following Hyatt’s acquisition of the boutique hotel company for up to $335 million.
In a post on her LinkedIn page on Jan. 9, Asher announced her departure after more than 13 years at The Standard, seven of them as its CEO.
“Leaving something you love and people you love (even more) is always bittersweet, but I knew the timing was right for me having achieved such a major milestone,” she wrote. “I am extremely proud of what we accomplished together with no shortage of obstacles (I could write a book but I won’t…don’t worry).”
In her time at The Standard, the company grew from four to 25 hotels worldwide, with the most recent opening in Singapore. She also oversaw The Bunkhouse hotel brand, under the Standard International parent company.
Asher said she will take a career break before pursuing her next opportunity.
The Standard has hotels in New York City, Miami Beach, London, Brussels, and Maldives, and other major cities across the globe. More are opening soon in Dublin, Lisbon, and Pattaya.
