Air Canada will make it easier to connect from smaller airports in British Columbia and Alberta through expanded deployment of regional turboprop aircraft starting this summer.

The non-stop flights, set to launch July 2, will utilize Bombardier Q400s to Air Canada’s Edmonton and Calgary operations.

The expansion of regional service will complement a number of other previously announced new Canada-U.S. services, including:

  • Toronto to: Omaha, Nebraska; Providence, Rhode Island
  • Montreal to: Baltimore, Pittsburgh
  • Edmonton to San Francisco
  • Vancouver to Sacramento

This year, Air Canada also will launch new international services, including:

  • Toronto to: Shannon, Ireland); Porto, Portugal; Zagreb, Croatia; Bucharest, Romania; and Buenos Aires, Argentina
  • Montreal to: Tokyo-Narita, Japan; Dublin, Ireland;, Bucharest, and Lisbon, Portugal
  • Vancouver to: Paris and Zurich

Earlier this week, Canada’s second-largest airline, WestJet, announced nearly 200 new flights to its network, including its first mainland Europe service.
