Conrad Athens The Ilisian has just opened after a full transformation of the former Hilton Athens.
The 278-key hotel anchors the new Ilisian mixed-use shopping and dining destination, marking a new era for the historic property and the Conrad brand’s debut in Greece. The original Hilton Athens first opened in April 1963 and “for decades played a defining role in Athens’ cultural and social life,” said Nassos Papazoglou, the hotel’s general manager.
“Our vision has been to honour that legacy while creating a hotel that feels open, dynamic, and deeply connected to the city today,” Papazoglou said. “From the way guests move through the spaces, to how they dine, unwind, and explore Athens, every detail has been designed to offer a genuine sense of belonging.”

Conrad Athens The Ilisian now boasts some of the most spacious guest rooms and suites in the city, most with private balconies and some of the best views of Athens. These include three Presidential Suites and a Royal Suite. Later this year, the Omega Penthouse will open, featuring a private pool and panoramic views of the Acropolis and Aegean Sea.
The property has an open-air gallery atmosphere, Athens’ largest outdoor pool, and extensive fitness and wellness facilities. Guests have access to nine different dining venues between the hotel’s own eateries and the rest of the Ilisian’s offerings. This include a poolside Italian restaurant.
Other dining options at the hotel include Byzantino Grande Brasserie, Onuki, and the Athenian Lounge. Also, the hotel’s iconic rooftop venue, Galaxy Bar, will reopen later this year as Galaxy Dispensary and Galaxy Supper Club.

The new hotel bring Hilton’s Conrad portfolio to 50 hotels and resorts worldwide. It also adds to Hilton’s recent luxury growth in Greece; the company opened Sandblu Santorini, LXR Hotels & Resorts earlier this month and will open Conrad Corfu later this year.
“Greece is one of Hilton’s fastest‑growing markets in Europe, driven by record visitor demand and a growing focus on high‑quality, year‑round tourism,” said Simon Vincent, CBE, president of Europe, Middle East and Africa at Hilton. “With our portfolio in Greece growing from just a handful of hotels a few years ago to more than 50 today, and more in the pipeline, the opening of Conrad Athens The Ilisian underscores our long‑term commitment to Athens and to Greece as a leading global tourism destination.”
