Ski Patrol, Park City Mountain Reach Tentative Agreement to End Strike
by Briana Bonfiglio /A strike that left visitors frustrated by long lift lines at the largest U.S. ski resort has come to an end.
Park City Mountain, owned by Vail Resorts, and the Park City Professional Ski Patrol Association (PCPSPA) announced on Tuesday evening that they reached a tentative agreement, which ski patrol workers will vote to ratify on Wednesday.
“The tentative agreement addresses both parties’ interests and will end the current strike,” the two parties said in a joint statement. “Everyone looks forward to restoring normal resort operations and moving forward together as one team.”
The PCPSPA was primarily battling for increased wages in negotiations that began in March 2024. It all came to a head on Dec. 27, 2024, when about 200 Park City Mountain workers began a strike. This caused major disruptions at the Utah resort over the past week and a half, with many ski resort visitors complaining on social media of long wait times for the lifts.
If ratified, the new union contract will last through April 2027.
