CLEAR Adds New Lanes at Kansas City International Airport

Airport security company CLEAR is continuing to expand in the U.S.

On Tuesday, CLEAR will officially open new lanes at Kansas City International Airport, the company’s 51st airport overall.

“As an identity company obsessed with the customer experience, CLEAR is thrilled to be landing at Kansas City International,” said CLEAR CEO Caryn Seidman-Becker. “We’re proud to partner with an airport that shares our commitment to creating excellent traveler experiences, and we’re excited to be launching as part of the brand new, state-of-the-art terminal.”

CLEAR says the new lanes at Kansas City International are expected to create 30 jobs and generate approximately $1.6 million in local economic impact.

CLEAR costs $189 for members and gives access to expedited security lanes at airports and at other facilities that employ the service. Discounted memberships are available for Delta Air Lines, United Airlines, and American Express members and additional family members can be added to existing accounts for $60 per adult per year.

CLEAR is not the same as TSA PreCheck, which offers its own expedited lane along with a lighter TSA screening process, which is something CLEAR doesn’t offer. CLEAR does give access to expedited lanes at locations outside of airports, including at some stadiums and arenas around the U.S.

It was founded in 2010 and has grown rapidly since that launch. At the end of 2021, the program celebrated its 39th airport addition when it added security lanes at Newark Liberty International Airport’s Terminals B and C. At that point, it had 39 airports and 109 expedited lanes across the U.S. (now over 50 with the addition of Kansas City this week and Raleigh-Durham International Airport earlier this year).
