CLEAR Adds New Lanes at Raleigh-Durham International Airport
by Daniel McCarthy /Airport security company CLEAR is expanding.
CLEAR announced on Thursday that it had officially added new lanes at Raleigh-Durham International Airport (RDU). The addition marks CLEAR’s 50th airport.
“RDU is proud to partner with CLEAR to provide travelers another option to expedite the security screening process,” said Michael Landguth, president and CEO of the Raleigh-Durham Airport Authority.
CLEAR was founded in 2010 and has grown rapidly since that launch. At the end of 2021, the program celebrated its 39th airport addition when it added security lanes at Newark Liberty International Airport’s Terminals B and C. At that point, it had 39 airports and 109 expedited lanes across the U.S.
With the addition of Raleigh-Durham, CLEAR now serves 50 airports and 14 million members.
CLEAR costs $189 for members and gives access to expedited security lanes at airports and at other facilities that employ the service. Discounted memberships are available for Delta Air Lines, United Airlines, and American Express members and additional family members can be added to existing accounts for $60 per adult per year.
CLEAR is not the same as TSA PreCheck, which offers its own expedited lane along with a lighter TSA screening process, which is something CLEAR doesn’t offer. CLEAR does give access to expedited lanes at locations outside of airports, including at some stadiums and arenas around the U.S.
