Both of Dallas’ major airports are under ground stops due to severe thunderstorms in the area.
Dallas Love Field Airport (DAL) and Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport (DFW) are currently halting all departures as storms move through the region. According to the FAA, the ground stops are scheduled to lift at 9:00 a.m. EDT, but they could be extended. Additional ground stops, delay programs, and further disruptions are possible later into Friday afternoon.
According to FlightAware, DFW is bearing the brunt of the disruptions, with 21 departures canceled and 75 delayed so far. That is on top of 23 canceled arrivals and 68 delayed arrivals.
The impact is slightly lower at Love Field, where 13 departures have been canceled, 18 have been delayed, 12 arrivals have been canceled, and 19 arriving flights have been delayed.
Combined, the severe weather moving across both Texas hubs has already triggered more than 65 flight cancellations and over 170 delays today.
