Intrepid Travel has launched three new Women’s Expeditions itineraries in Peru, Cambodia and Bhutan, responding to overwhelming growth in women-focused solo travel.
The expansion comes as women now make up more than half of Intrepid’s global traveler client base, the company said. In 2025 alone, the Women’s Expeditions range of tours grew by 32%, with nearly 77% of the travelers on these trips solo women.
The new trips, raging from eight to 11 days, are led by local female trip leaders and feature women-led experiences that support eight women-owned businesses across the three destinations.
“Women are not just participating in travel, they’re driving it,” said Erika Kritikides, general manager of experiences at Intrepid Travel. “As we expand this range, we’re intentionally choosing destinations where tourism can create meaningful economic opportunity for women. When women succeed in tourism, it strengthens families, communities and entire local economies. We remain committed to working closely with our local teams to support these women and advance gender equality in tourism.”
The three tours are:
Peru (eight days): Hiking the lesser-known Chinchero to Urquillos trail in the Andes with an all-female crew, spotlighting women in adventure leadership roles.
Cambodia (eight days): A street food tour with TukTuk Srey, a women-led enterprise employing exclusively female drivers in a traditionally male-dominated sector.
Bhutan (11 days): Trekking through the Himalayas followed by a traditional herbal hot stone bath at a women-owned farmhouse.
With these additions, Intrepid’s Women’s Expeditions portfolio now spans eight global destinations, including India, Morocco, Nepal, Saudi Arabia and Turkey.
New departures begin September 2026.
