Sonesta Ocean Point Resort Delays Re-Opening

The lobby at Sonesta Ocean Point Resort will get a total revamp with an updated contemporary style.

The re-opening of Sonesta Ocean Point Resort in St. Maarten which has been postponed one month to Dec. 15, 2018. The adults-only property, which closed due to hurricane damage, was scheduled to reopen to visitors in November. 

The renovation project includes an updated lobby with a contemporary style, and a Spanish-style tapas restaurant, Casa Blue, which will debut on the rooftop terrace above Azul restaurant.

Sonesta Ocean Point features three exclusive pools including the Edge pool with a zero entry cliff side beach, four bars and two restaurants including the signature Azul restaurant. Other resort amenities such as 24-hour room service, state-of-the-art fitness center, an open-air wellness area and private cabanas.

The adjacent Sonesta Maho Beach Resort Casino & Spa is still on schedule to reopen on Feb. 1, 2019.
