St. Maarten’s government and tourism officials are warning travelers of a recent online scam, in which an unofficial site is charging the public for a fake digital entry form.
Reports have identified a private, third-party site charging unsuspecting travelers up to $139.99 for the form. In reality, St. Maarten’s digital entry form is completely free and available to complete at entry.sx.
“The Government of Sint Maarten remains committed to protecting our visitors and ensuring a smooth arrival experience,” says May-Ling Chun, the country’s director of tourism. “We urge all travelers to verify they are using the official website before submitting their personal information or making any payments. If you believe you have been charged by an unofficial website, you are encouraged to contact your bank or card provider immediately.”
Officials urge travelers to exercise caution when using search engines or clicking online advertisements, as unofficial sites may pose as credible sources in those results.
