Tauck Expands River Cruise Portfolio for 2027 with New Ships, Itineraries

Driven by “exceptional demand” and strong year-over-year growth, Tauck will add five new European river cruise itineraries for 2027. As part of this growth, Tauck will also welcome two new river boats: the ms Saudade, sister ship to the ms Andorinha on the Douro, and the ms Reverie, sister ship t the ms Serene on the Seine.

The company will also introduce a six-day river cruise format, set to launch in late 2026, and will expand these shorter itineraries for 2027.  Offered primarily during the shoulder season, these sailings aren’t just shorter, they come with the added benefit of milder weather and fewer crowds.

“We’re seeing extraordinary growth across our river portfolio, and that inspires us to find new ways for guests to experience Tauck,” said Tauck CEO Jennifer Tombaugh. “River cruising continues to be one of the most popular ways to experience Tauck for the first time, and with these new shorter itineraries, we can now offer that exceptional entry point to guests with limited time.”

Among the new six-day options will be:

  • Essence of the Seine: Offered in March and November, this itinerary travels roundtrip from Paris on the ms Reverie, sailing through the heart of Normandy with visits to Rouen, Vernon, and the D-Day Beaches.
  • Essence of the Danube: Offered in October and November, this itinerary sails between Budapest and Vienna onboard the ms Joy. Highlights include guided sightseeing in Vienna and Bratislava, an exclusive gala dinner with live music at Vienna’s Palais Pallavicini, and a wine tasting in Dürnstein.

Tauck is also deepening its commitment to Portugal’s Douro River, nearly doubling its capacity with the addition of ms Saudade and adding three new itineraries, including one of the new six-day options.

The three new Douro options are:

  • Essence of the Douro: This six-day sailing travels from Porto to Barca d’Alva on the new ms Saudade, visiting Portugal’s wine country, exploring the hilltop city of Guimarães, trying their hand at cocktail making, and much more.
  • Porto Prelude: A 10-day journey beginning with a multi-night stay in Porto, before embarking on a cruise through the Douro Valley. Guests will enjoy vineyard hikes, museum visits to learn about UNESCO-listed rock-art sites, port wine tastings, and Tauck-exclusive events.
  • Exploring the Douro, plus Madrid: An 11-day journey that pairs the Douro with three nights in Spain’s capital city. Highlights of the itinerary include port tastings in Vila Nova de Gaia, a dinner at the acclaimed riverside restaurant DOC, and guided tours of Porto and Salamanca

In all, Tauck will offer 37 European river cruises in 2027, including six Tauck Bridges itineraries, designed specifically for families. Plus, for the first time, Tauck is opening reservations for these 2027 itineraries earlier than ever, allowing guests to secure preferred departures with risk-free deposits while final details are being completed.
