Florida Hotels Donate Rooms to Displaced Floridians

The travel industry continues to step up in the wake of the devastation caused by Hurricane Ian.

After many families were left stranded by Hurricane Ian’s arrival last month, several Florida hotels, organized by VISIT Florida, offered free room nights to those who were displaced.

In total, 23 families were placed in 19 different hotels in Broward County, including Conrad, Diplomat Beach Resort, Four Seasons Ft. Lauderdale, Hollywood Beach Marriott, Margaritaville Hollywood Beach Resort, Ritz-Carlton Ft. Lauderdale Riverside, and the W Ft. Lauderdale.

The families came from Lee County, which includes the cities of Fort Myers and Cape Coral on the state’s Gulf Coast. All 23 families were evacuated from their homes while their newborns were in NICU care and VISIT Florida was able to secure accommodations for all of them.

"We are humbled to be able to help Floridians recover from the devastating impact of Hurricane Ian," said Dana Young, VISIT FLORIDA President and CEO.

"This incredible act of generosity from our hotel partners ensures that some of Florida's most vulnerable residents are still able to get critical medical care despite being displaced by the storm. We sincerely thank these hotels for their donations to Florida's NICU families and making such a positive impact on our state."
