Two Florida Keys Resorts to Get Makeover, Merge, and Reopen in 2024

Two resorts in the Florida Keys’ Islamorada Village are set to undergo significant makeover and reopen as one resort in summer 2024.

The Islamorada Resort Collection’s Pelican Cove Resort & Marina closed on Sept. 11 and its Postcard Inn Beach Resort & Marina will close on Oct. 29 for renovation. When complete, the two brands will merge into one resort destination that has not yet been named.

"Keeping the identity true to the essence of the Florida Keys was a huge priority for the new resort concept,” said Scott Dawson, vice president and managing director of the Islamorada Resort Collection. “We're excited to bring an upscale experience that is fresh and new for the Florida Keys while staying faithful to the laid-back atmosphere expected from Islamorada resorts.”

The new Islamorada resort will have freshly renovated guestrooms and grounds. It will feature 214 guest rooms, seven dining options, and two retail shops, as well as a new-and-improved, full-service marina, which will offer boats and fishing captains.

“We think locals and newcomers alike will be delighted by concepts great and small, from the new dining destinations and island-inspired guest rooms to the new ‘Rum Runner’ boat that will transport guests effortlessly by water to all three resorts,” Dawson said.

The Islamorada Resort Collection has two other Florida Keys resorts under its name: the Amara Cay Resort and La Siesta Resort & Villas. Davidson Hospitality Group, which operates 87 hotels and hundreds of restaurants in the U.S., operates the collection.

“The essence of Islamorada will come alive as the best of the island merges seamlessly with this resort that pays respect to the history and adventure the destination is known for,” Dawson added. “This new resort experience will serve as the bellwether of the Islamorada Resort Collection and it will unite the Collection to usher in a ‘new’ Florida Keys.”
