American Airlines is adding another flight to Hawaii with new seasonal service from Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport (DFW) to Ellison Onizuka Kona International Airport at Keahole (KOA) on the Island of Hawai’i.

American will operate the service daily starting Nov. 20, 2025. It will fly on the airline’s Boeing 787-8 aircraft, which includes its business-class suites, premium economy, Main Cabin Extra, and main cabin.

American is planning to operate the route through the winter into late February. According to Cirium schedules, American will pause the route for six weeks during that time frame, from Jan. 12, 2026, until Feb. 12, 2026.

American is the second carrier to announce additional service to Kona in recent weeks. Delta Air Lines is also adding a flight to Kona — this one from Salt Lake City International Airport (SLC) starting Dec. 19.

Delta, which already flies to Kona from Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) and Seattle-Tacoma International Airport (SEA), will operate the service on a Boeing 767-300ER aircraft.
