Porter Unveils New Toronto – Thunder Bay Service with Embraer E195-E2

Porter Airlines is introducing a new Toronto – Thunder Bay route on its Embraer E195-E2 aircraft, connecting Pearson International Airport and Thunder Bay International Airport.

Starting Oct. 16, the service will operate three times a week, increasing passenger capacity by more than 10% on Thunder Bay flights. On the 132-seat Embraer E195-E2, passengers will enjoy Porter’s elevated economy experience, which includes premium snacks, WiFi, and beer and wine served in glassware – all free of charge.

Porter is the largest airline in Thunder Bay. The carrier currently offers five daily roundtrip flights to its home airport, Billy Bishop in Toronto’s downtown core, as well as twice daily roundtrip flights to Ottawa International Airport. Both of these services are operated on 78-seat Dash 8-400 aircraft.

“Thunder Bay has been very loyal to Porter, and we are committed to providing the community with a variety of service options at competitive fares,” said Kevin Jackson, president, Porter Airlines. “We hope to increase flights on this route as we introduce more new E195-E2s into our fleet next year.”

According to Porter, the E195-E2 narrowbody jets are the “quietest single-aisle aircraft in the world.” Arranged in a two-by-two cabin configuration (no middle seats), passengers will enjoy comforts such as natural leather upholstery, LED mood lighting, and power outlets.

Porter took delivery of its first E195-E2 in December 2022, with 50 confirmed orders overall.

“The E195-E2 enables us to reach across the continent, beyond our Eastern Canada roots, while introducing a level of service for economy air travellers that no other North American airline provides,” said Michael Deluce, president and CEO, Porter Airlines. “It’s an enhanced experience that builds on our reputation for providing an elevated level of service to every passenger at reasonable prices in a single class of service.”
