Ultra-low-cost carrier Spirit Airlines will launch new service to Tennessee’s Chattanooga Metropolitan Airport (CHA) from three U.S. cities starting June 4, 2025.
The airline will offer nonstop flights from Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport (FLL), Newark Liberty International Airport (EWR), and Orlando International Airport (MCO). Service will operate three times weekly from Fort Lauderdale and four times weekly from both Newark and Orlando.
Chattanooga will be Spirit’s third Tennessee destination, following Nashville, where it began service in 2019, and Memphis, which it added in 2022.
Spirit is in the midst of a financial restructuring that it hopes will help secure its future, which has been murky since the pandemic, a stretch that came to a head when it received approval for its plan to convert $795 million in debt to equity, a major step in the airline’s effort to emerge from bankruptcy as a private company.
Late last month, Spirit quietly brought back change fees for some of its fares. It will now charge change fees for its “Go” fares, its lowest fare tier. The amount of the fee varies depending on when a customer makes a change—the closer to departure date, the higher the fee.
The highest change fee, to those cancelling within six days of departure, is $99 and it goes down from there—those changing their flight between 7 and 30 days out will pay $79; and those doing so between 31 and 59 days will pay $59.
