Intrepid Names Dr. Susanne Etti to Lead Newly Formed ‘Climate Department’

Intrepid Names Dr. Susanne Etti to Lead Newly Formed ‘Climate Department’

Dr. Susanne Etti, Intrepid Travel.

Intrepid Travel has promoted Dr. Susanne Etti to lead its newly formed Climate Department as the company says it is “doubling down” on its enhanced Climate Action Plan.

The new department will drive the company’s accelerated decarbonization roadmap and oversee the allocation of the company’s new $2 million Climate Impact Fund, supporting practical, immediate emissions reductions across the business and its supplier network.

The news follows Intrepid’s recent decision to retire its carbon offset program in favour of direct decarbonization investment, alongside a lifecycle-based carbon intensity reduction target designed to fast-track the company’s transition to a lower-carbon business.

As General Manager Climate, Dr. Etti will lead the new team, reporting into Meegan Marshall, Intrepid’s Chief People and Purpose Officer. Dr. Etti’s responsibilities will include the rollout and implementation of Intrepid’s decarbonization plan, allocation of the new Climate Impact Fund, carbon and risk reporting and driving climate advocacy within the business and broader industry.

Intrepid Travel has created a new ‘Climate Department.’

In addition to the General Manager Climate role, Intrepid is recruiting a Decarbonization Manager who will support the delivery of measurable, business-wide carbon reductions across the business and its supplier network. The Climate Department will also include a Purpose Carbon Analyst and Environmental Analyst to support with carbon reporting, with a focus on measurement and assurance.

“Being mindful of our planet has always been at the heart of Intrepid’s mission, and establishing a dedicated Climate function underscores our commitment to accelerating our decarbonisation roadmap and embedding climate action across every part of our business,” said Meegan Marshall, Chief People and Purpose Officer at Intrepid Travel.

“With more than two decades of global experience, extensive carbon reporting expertise and a strong track record of environmental advocacy, Susanne has already been instrumental in shaping Intrepid’s climate strategy and we look forward to the leadership, insights and innovation she will bring to this new role as we continue to advance our climate ambitions.”

Dr Etti’s promotion to General Manager Climate from her previous role as Environmental Impact Manager took effect on January 7. She is based at Intrepid’s global headquarters in Melbourne, Australia.
