Cruise Lines Ban Samsung Phone
by Daniel McCarthyCarnival Cruise Line, Royal Caribbean International and more have banned passengers from using the Samsung Galaxy Note 7 phone onboard ships over concerns of explosions caused by overheating.
The phones, which were recalled last month by Samsung, have been reported to explode because of a battery fault.
According to a statement from Carnival, guests and crew members are required to turn off their Note 7 phones and disconnect them from any charging equipment while onboard.
Other Carnival Corp. brands including Cunard, Holland America, Princess Cruises, Seabourn and Fathom also have banned use of the devices, and media reports say that so have Azamara Club Cruises, Thomson Cruises, Disney Cruise Line and Windstar.
