There’s a new hero coming to town, but rather than save lives, this one promises to save families from boring vacations.
Royal Caribbean’s fourth Icon Class ship, scheduled to be delivered in August 2027, will be called Hero of the Seas. Like its classmates, the ship will feature eight neighborhoods, the most pools at sea, 28 dining options, and lots of family fun and adventure.
New to Royal Caribbean will be a the Coconut Cove pool, a family raft slide, and new accommodations for multigenerational families – including the three-story Ultimate Family Treehouse.
“Icon Class truly set a new standard for family vacations, and Hero of the Seas takes that vision even further,” said Michael Bayley, president and CEO, Royal Caribbean. “With more water, more thrills and more choices for all ages, we’re continuing to build on what our guests love about Royal Caribbean and delivering the experiences families are looking for when vacationing together.”
Nine Distinct Pools

Hero of the Seas will boast the most pools in the Royal Caribbean fleet with nine options, including a new Caribbean-inspired pool, three adults-only options, and the largest swim-up bar at sea.
Coconut Cove will be an all-new pool concept steps away from The Limbe and Coconut bar offering in-water loungers and poolside drinks service.
Familiar favorites will be revamped including an expanded Swim & Tonic pool and the addition of a new water feature at Splashaway Bay.
The Hideaway adults-only area will feature two pools, including the largest swim-up bar at sea.
New Thrills
Hero of the Seas will feature signature Icon Class adventure experiences such as Crown’s Edge and the FlowRider, but it will also have some new options. At the Category 6 waterpark, families can try out two new family raft slides, including the first funnel raft slide at sea, along with new twists on the mat-racing Storm Chasers duo.
Dining on Hero of the Seas
Hero of the Seas will feature 28 dining spots including the line’s newest supper club experience, Orleans Parish Supper Club. The Supper Club is a multi-course dining venue, this time with live jazz, craft cocktails, and gourmet Cajun and Creole dishes inspired by the early 20th century elegance of New Orleans’ French Quarter.
The Icon Class signature Royal Railway on Hero of the Seas will feature new destinations, entertainment, food, and technology.
Also new will be a venue located in the Surfside neighborhood offering hands-on cooking classes for families of all ages, with recipes for little ones to more advanced courses focused on chopping and baking.
The AquaDome Market food hall will return with four new stall concepts.
Returning favorites will run the gamut from Izumi and Giovanni’s Italian Kitchen to Chops Grille, El Loco Fresh, and Sorrento’s.
Accommodations on Hero of the Seas

As if the Ultimate Family Townhouse wasn’t enough, Royal Caribbean is ading the three-deck Ultimate Family Treehouse, which features a rooftop terrace, private whirlpool, two-deck teen space, and two main bedrooms each with their own bathroom and balcony.
All the rest of the Icon Class accommodation options remain the same including Surfside Family Suites and Family Infinite Ocean View Balconies, Royal Loft Suites, Icon Loft Suites, Interior Plus, and Sunset Suites, among other categories.
