Marriott’s First Delta Hotel to Open in Orlando
The first Delta Hotel in the United States will open its doors in Orlando in December.
Marriott International Inc. bought the Canadian company in April as a way to attract more downstream customers, with hotels that cannot meet the more stringent requirements of a Marriott brand.
A hotel converting to the Delta brand, for example, could keep its stucco ceilings, bathtub showers, and in-wall air conditioning systems, while a Marriott could not.
Noah Silverman, Marriott’s chief development officer for full-service hotels in North America, told TMR the company plans to expand the Delta brand throughout the United States and Canada, where there are already 37 Delta hotels.
Two more Delta deals already have been approved, Silverman said, and there are several others “in the pipeline that we hope to announce soon.”
