RIU Hotels & Resorts has opened its first hotel in Canada, Riu Plaza Toronto, bringing 352 4-star guest rooms to the heart of Toronto’s entertainment district.
The new hotel occupies 23 floors of a 49-floor skyscraper. It features a lobby bar and second-floor restaurant that serves daily buffet breakfast included in the room rate. It also offers a fully equipped 24/7 gym and a meeting room that holds 40 people.
The hotel’s location at 30 Widmer St. puts it steps away from local landmarks, including the Princess of Wales Theatre, David Pecaut Square, Rogers Centre Stadium, and CN Tower.
Riu Plaza Toronto’s interior design mirrors that of RIU’s other urban line hotels, with beige tones and matte finishes creating a relaxing atmosphere and several private spaces in the lobby.
The hotel is the 12th in the company’s urban line, joining properties in Panama, Guadalajara, Madrid, Miami, Chicago, San Francisco, New York, Berlin, London and Dublin. RIU is also currently building its third New York hotel.
