RIU Hotels & Resorts just reopened Hotel Riu Palace Peninsula in Cancun, unveiling comprehensive renovations to the 618-room hotel.
The transformation brings all the sophisticated touches you’d expect in a modern upgrade: natural tones and warm woods in the guest rooms, more space and natural light in the lobby and restaurants – even sweeping views of the Caribbean Sea from the District bar. There are also more pools, two new restaurant concepts, and a newly renovated RIU Land play area for children.
But it also brings the option for guests to have a new, elevated experience that they previously couldn’t at this resort. RIU’s adult-only Elite Club is now available at Hotel Riu Palace Peninsula. Elite guests stay in one of the 100 best rooms in the hotel, all located in the villa area of the complex previously known as the Adults Only zone, and some with private pools. They also receive exclusive service that includes a selection of premium beverages, access to a specialty restaurant for Elite guests only, and a private pool with a swim-up bar.
With this renovation, Hotel Riu Palace Peninsula now has six pools – the Elite Club pool, an adult-only pool with a swim-up bar, a pool for families with children, and three for general use. The hotel also has nine dining venues and seven bars, including the new American Country themed restaurant and the Candy ice cream parlor.
Hotel Riu Palace Peninsula is one of RIU Hotels & Resorts’ six properties in Cancun, 15 in Quintana Roo, and 23 total in Mexico. The company is also in the midst of renovating Riu Palace Mexico in Playa del Carmen and building the new Riu Palace Quintana Roo, its fourth hotel in Costa Mujeres.
