Set against the sparkling turquoise waters of the Caribbean Sea, the all-inclusive Hyatt Ziva Cancun captures the ambiance and natural beauty of the ideal elevated Mexican resort experience.

Travel Market Report recently stayed at the all-inclusive resort as part of the ALGV Ascend Conference pre-FAM. While there, we had the opportunity to tour the property and experience various dining options and recreational experiences.

Overall, Hyatt Ziva Cancun delivers a compact yet elegant resort experience in the Cancun region, just 25 minutes from the CUN International airport. The resort opened in 2015, replacing the Dreams Cancun, after an $85 million renovation that added the adults-only Turquoize Tower. Hyatt has done an excellent job of keeping the property fresh and up-to-date, including a recent update to the adults-only pool area.

Hyatt Ziva Cancun is a 547-room all-inclusive resort with rooms spread across multiple buildings, including the original “pyramid” building (designed by renowned Mexican architect Ricardo Legoretta) and the adults-only Turquoize Tower.

Room categories begin with basic king or double resort-view rooms, followed by upgrade options including ocean-view, dolphin-view, and oceanfront accommodations. There are also several suite categories to choose from, such as the modest swim-up suites with access to a semi-private pool, the two-story oceanfront pyramid suites that feature dual balconies and over 1,300 square feet of space, and the oceanfront corner suites that boast more than 1,000 square feet of space as well as a private balcony with a hot tub.

For groups looking for a truly high-end, indulgent experience, Hyatt Ziva Cancun also offers a grand presidential suite (pictured below). The 4,381 square-foot two-bedroom suite encompasses the entire top floor of the resort, with its own specialized elevator access. The layout includes a separate dining room with seating for 12, as well as a lobby, kitchen, living room, balcony, and even an office space. As with the rest of the club level suites, the room comes with butler service.

The presidential suite’s ample space and seating make it the perfect option for event bookings, whether that’s a wedding where the bride and groom might want to host a rehearsal dinner, a multi-gen family vacation, or even a business trip where a company may need to host a private gathering.

The property has the advantage of its resort-within-a-resort, adults-only building alongside family-friendly amenities, making it an ideal location for multi-gen family travel. Grandparents and extended relatives can stay in the Turquoize Tower and enjoy time away from the kids in the dedicated pool and bar, then join up with the rest of the family for meal times.

For travelers with children, the resort offers all-ages activities, a KidZ Club with a mini water park for ages 4 to 12, an arcade for the teens, and plenty of kid-friendly food options.

Food & Beverage Options at Hyatt Ziva Cancun

Speaking of food options: Hyatt Ziva Cancun has 18 restaurants, lounges, and bars to choose from, with dining and beverages included. Guests can choose from more elevated dining experiences like the French cuisine at La Bastille or the Tradewinds steakhouse, or opt for more casual options like the Americana-themed Chevy’s or the Asian-fusion eatery Moongate.

The international buffet, El Mercado, is open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, and offers an assortment of delicious options with both indoor and outdoor seating. For a quick bite, there’s Casa del Café, which offers espresso drinks and a limited selection of sweet treats, as well as the dessert parlor, Pasteles.

There are several bars on the property as well, and all cocktails, spirits, beer, wine, and soft drinks are unlimited. A highlight is Tres Cerveza’s, a sports bar that boasts its own brewmaster and microbrewery, serving handcrafted beer alongside pub favorites like wings. Cocktail lovers can sample local flavors at Juana Margarita, which serves local tequilas and mezcals. The resort also offers brewmaster, tequila, and wine tastings as experiences.

Resort Activities & Experiences

In addition to the aforementioned alcohol tastings, Hyatt Ziva Cancun has various activities and programs to keep guests busy. These include live performances and entertainment, as well as sports facilities, several pools, and even oceanfront fire pits.

TMR had the opportunity to experience a private pasta-making demonstration, which was held in the room used for cooking demonstrations and private dinners. After learning how to make noodles by hand, the group was served a simple yet delicious pasta lunch.

There are also additional premium experiences that guests can access for a fee. These include swimming with dolphins, private pier access, and treatments in the elaborate Zen Spa, which boasts a large hydrotherapy room, 13 treatment rooms, and Mayan-inspired services.
