Eclipse at Half Moon, a luxury resort in Montego Bay, Jamaica, will reopen on April 2 following a temporary closure from Hurricane Melissa last year.
Since the storm hit in October 2025, the property has been closed to make necessary renovations and for its 850 team members, who were all impacted in one way or another, to recover personally.
“As we prepare to welcome back our team members and guests, an emphasis is on the path of recovery we walk together and the renewal opportunities that lie ahead,” said Guy Steuart III, chairman of Half Moon and third-generation owner. “At Half Moon, care has always been at the center of what we do — care for our people, and care for our guests, many of whom have returned to us time and time again over generations.”
Eclipse at Half Moon is located 10 minutes from Sangster International Airport in Montego Bay. The property is managed by Salamander Collection and part of Preferred Hotels & Resorts’ Legend Collection. With 57 beachfront accommodations, the resort is marked by its open-air architecture and strong services, as well as an anchoring infinity-edge pool, swimming coves, and several bars and restaurants.
As part of its reopening, the resort will unveil reimagined six- and seven-bedroom villas after recently undergoing a multi-million-dollar renovation. Later this year, refreshes to other legacy accommodations will be revealed. The property will also reopen its Robert Trent Jones Sr.-designed golf course, along with the fitness center, tennis courts, equestrian center, watersports, swimming lagoon, and outdoor spaces.
This is one of many Jamaica resorts to reopen in the past few months following their recovery from Hurricane Melissa. Recently, Princess Senses The Mangrove reopened, and its family-friendly counterpart, Princess Grand Jamaica, will reopen on March 1. The Jamaica Tourist Board is keeping a list of property reopenings on its website.
Edmund Bartlett, Jamaica’s Minister of Tourism, called the reopening of Eclipse at Half Moon “a powerful signal of confidence in Jamaica’s tourism sector and our national recovery.”
“As one of the Caribbean’s most iconic resorts, Half Moon has long set the standard for excellence, innovation, and authentic Jamaican hospitality,” he said. “The resort’s return not only restores hundreds of jobs but also strengthens our tourism value chain, benefiting communities and the wider economy.”
