Marriott International has appointed three travel industry veterans to key executive leadership roles within the organization.

Shannon Patterson has taken over the role of senior vice president, global sales. She will be tasked with modernizing the global sales operations and positioning the company for future growth. Patterson first joined Marriott in 1996, and has steadily risen the ranks over the last two decades, most recently serving as senior vice president for global growth & delivery.

“I am excited to accept this new challenge,” Patterson shared via LinkedIn. “Over the course of my career, I have realized it’s the people that make Marriott the best place to work. I look forward to working with this incredible team to drive success and innovation for Marriott and our valued customers and partners.”

Gail Frazer has been promoted to senior vice president, sales & distribution for the U.S. and Canada. Frazer has over 25 years of experience in hospitality, and has been with Marriott since 2001—most recently serving as managing vice president of sales and distribution for the U.S. Eastern region, premium and luxury hotels.

In her new position, Frazer will lead Marriott’s sales organization in the U.S and Canada, and will be responsible for driving revenue, building strong customer relationships, and fostering growth.

“After 15 years in our Global Sales Organization and over a decade in hotel and regional roles, I’ve had the privilege of working with some of the finest leaders,” Frazer shared on LinkedIn. “This is the role I’ve always aspired to, and I am eager to make a meaningful impact on our business and for our associates.”

Finally, Andy Kauffman has been named the new chief commercial officer, U.S. & Canada. He joins from the National Football League (NFL), where he’s held the senior vice president, marketing strategy & science position since 2021.

The move marks Kauffman’s return to Marriott: He spent a decade in leadership roles with the company from 2010 until 2021, most recently as senior vice president, marketing channels & optimization.

Kauffman commented on the appointment via LinkedIn: “I am honored and excited to rejoin the company I love, the industry that is so deeply intertwined with my personal journey, and people that I admire greatly. This role is a perfect fit for the next stage of my career and I look forward to working with my new team to fuel our next stage of growth!”
