Marriott International has opened its 500th property in the Caribbean and Latin America (CALA): Almare, a Luxury Collection Resort, Isla Mujeres, Adult All-Inclusive.
The resort features 109 oceanfront suites with private balconies and elevated amenities, as well as seven dining venues and bars, the Alma spa, and an infinity pool overlooking the Caribbean Sea.
Brian King, president of CALA for Marriott, called the new addition “a decisive moment in our expansion, as it demonstrates our continuing commitment to evolve and adapt to meet the needs of discerning travelers.”
He added that the new property “strengthens our presence in the high-demand market of Isla Mujeres.”
Marriott began testing the waters of the all-inclusive space in 2019, and this is now the company’s 35th all-inclusive property. This also means that the hotel giant is expanding more rapidly in CALA; in the past three years, Marriott has grown from 300 to 500 hotels in the region.
About 10% of Marriott’s luxury properties are now in the CALA region. The new Isla Mujeres resort is Marriott’s 62nd CALA property in the Luxury Group, which encompasses seven hotel brands: the Ritz-Carlton, Bvlgari Hotels & Resorts, St. Regis Hotels & Resorts, EDITION, The Luxury Collection, JW Marriott, and W Hotels.
Some other anticipated openings to watch for 2025 include Paraiso de la Bonita, a Luxury Collection All-Inclusive Resort in Mexico, and W Punta Cana in the Dominican Republic.
