The Fullerton Hotel Sydney Joins Historic Hotels Worldwide

The top-ranking Sydney hotel joins the more than 300 hotels in 47 countries that have earned the honor by preserving their rich history. A significant part of The Fullerton Hotel is housed in the city center’s General Post Office (GPO), built in 1874. The GPO Building, an iconic Australia landmark, was restored in 2019.
“This prestigious recognition is a testament to our team’s commitment to preserving the rich heritage of our iconic property, while providing exceptional hospitality to our guests,” said Darryl Healey, the hotel manager.
“Our inclusion in this esteemed group highlights the unique historical significance and timeless elegance of The Fullerton Hotel Sydney and we look forward to continuing to share its story with visitors from around the world.”
The Fullerton Hotel Sydney is also part of Preferred Hotels & Resorts. It features a grand staircase, more than a dozen different suite and guest room types, fitness and business centers, and the Fullerton Club Lounge.
The Historic Hotels seal of approval
Historic Hotels Worldwide – and its counterpart Historic Hotels of America – are programs of the National Trust for Historic Preservation. The group rewards hotels that the preservation of iconic sites in history with benefits such as marketing materials, access to a network of travel professionals, advertising and media opportunities, and more.
To become part of Historic Hotels Worldwide, the building must be at least 75 years old, have a historic location, celebrate is history with art or memorabilia of some kind, be recognized by a national preservation organization or located within a UNESCO world heritage site, and be presently used as a hotel.

The Sydney property is The Fullerton’s second to join Historic Hotels Worldwide; The Fullerton Singapore was inducted in 2011.
