The Travel Corporation Celebrates Return To New York
by Cheryl Rosen /“It’s been a long journey,” says Stanley Tollman, “but travel has afforded a wonderful life for me and my family. It’s never the same; every day you wake up and say, ‘What’s the latest challenge?’ ”
For the chairman of The Travel Corporation, parent company to travel brands including Trafalgar, Uniworld River Cruises, Insight Vacations and Contiki, the very latest challenge appears to be conquered. Last night the company held its annual sales meeting in Manhattan, and hosted a party at the 21 Club to celebrate the opening of its New York office.
With most of its presence having moved to California over the years, TTC has not forgotten that “we started here in New York and we’re here for the long haul,” he said.
TTC founder Stanley Tollman shared the podium with his son Brett, TTC’s CEO, who told the travel agents and press at the party that “we heard you reinforcing that our presence on the East Coast was not sufficient, and we’re extremely pleased to have such a large footprint back in New York.”
TTC is here “to support the travel advisors we rely on,” the younger Tollman said. And despite the talk of disruption and automation and consolidation in the travel industry, “I don’t believe automation is going to replace great travel advisors. There is nothing in the world like a great travel advisor. Our future is dependent upon your success; we’re in this together. And we thank you for being part of our present and our future.”
