Nomadic Expeditions has appointed Kurt Bjorkman as the tour and lodge operator’s new executive director.
Bjorkman now oversees Three Camel Lodge, Nomadic Expeditions’ luxury lodge in Mongolia’s Gobi Desert, and custom tour operations across the company’s destination specialties: Mongolia, India, Tibet, Nepal, and Bhutan. He brings more than three decades of leadership experience at luxury hotels, resorts, and destination management companies.
“We are delighted to welcome Kurt as executive director and draw on his extensive experience leading operations at some of the world’s most distinguished luxury hotels and resorts,” said Jalsa Urubshurow, CEO and founder of Nomadic Expeditions. “His proven leadership, deep understanding of hospitality and commitment to sustainable and regenerative practices will be invaluable as we continue to elevate the cultural and adventure experiences at the heart of our journeys across Mongolia and beyond.”
Previously, Bjorkman spent 16 years as COO and general manager at The Ranch at Laguna Beach in California. In the past, he’s also been the general manager of Pacific Edge Hotel in Laguna Beach, president and director of Destination Services San Diego for Manchester Resort, and founder and managing partner of over5 Hospitality.
His extensive career also led him to be a founding member of Beyond Green, a collection of sustainable hotels. He received the Surfrider Foundation’s 2025 Wavemaker Award and was named 2023 General Manager of the Year by the California Hotel & Lodging Association.
