By 2030, AmaWaterways will add eight new ships to its European fleet, bringing its total international offering to more than 40 vessels – double the number it had in 2020.
“Our expanding fleet is a direct response to the strong demand from guests eager to discover river cruising and Europe’s beautiful rivers,” said recently appointed CEO Catherine Powell.
“These new ships represent exciting opportunities for our valued travel advisor partners and us to grow together.”

Demand continues to surge for the upscale, culture-driven product that AmaWaterways offers, combining luxury and comfort with meaningful destination connections.
The new ship order doesn’t include vessels already scheduled to arrive in 2026 and 2027. The next European ship to make its debut will be the AmaSofia next spring. It will sail the Rhine and Danube. In 2027, at least two more Europe ships will arrive, the double-wide AmaRudi and AmaFiora.
The increasingly international AmaWaterways also has two Nile ships in Egypt and one each on the Mekong River in Vietnam/Cambodia and the Magdalena river in Colombia. A second Colombia ship, the AmaMelodia, is due to arrive this October, while a second Mekong ship, AmaMaya, is due in 2026.
