Club Med broke ground last week on a new Exclusive Collection resort in Thailand, Club Med Koh Samui.

In a groundbreaking ceremony on Aug. 25, leaders of the all-inclusive resort pioneer and business partners from Central Capital Group held a symbolic planting of native Samui coconut seedlings to signify the new beginning.

Club Med Koh Samui will be the second Club Med property in Thailand, but the first Exclusive Collection in the country. Club Med has operated Club Med Phuket for more than 40 years.

Now, Club Med has a goal to double its number of resorts globally by 2030. A good number of these resorts will be part of its elevated portfolio, the Exclusive Collection. Club Med Koh Samui will be the third Exclusive Collection property in the East and South Asia, and Pacific (ESAP) region.

Club Med also recently broke ground on Club Med St. Croix, another Exclusive Collection resort that will open next year in the U.S. Virgin Islands and mark the brand’s return to U.S. soil. Over the next few years, Club Med also looks forward to new openings in Canada, Italy, Oman, and Indonesia.

This year, Club Med South Africa opened in July, and Club Med Borneo, a new beach resort in Kota Kinabalu, Malaysia, will open at the end of 2026.
