Island vibes just hit San Diego with the opening of the new Margaritaville Hotel San Diego Gaslamp Quarter this month.

The downtown San Diego hotel is Margaritaville’s first city-center location on the West Coast, and is right near San Diego Convention Center and Petco Park, where the MLB’s San Diego Padres play.

“After much dreaming and planning, we are delighted to formally open our doors and introduce Margaritaville Hotel San Diego to the Gaslamp Quarter,” said Jim Hollister, the hotel’s general manager. “With our signature ‘no worries,’ easy-going vibes and welcoming service, we look forward to bringing this unique style of hospitality to our beloved city of San Diego.”

Margaritaville Hotel San Diego Gaslamp Quarter is now home to San Diego’s largest rooftop pool deck, which offers guests views of Petco Park and the rest of the Gaslamp Quarter neighborhood and is just one of the hotel’s several amenities.

The 235-room hotel has three dining options and nine event spaces. Guests can eat and drink at the hotel’s LandShark Bar & Grill, rooftop 5 o’Clock Somewhere bar, and lobby Margaritaville Coffee Shop. The eateries have “coastal-inspired menus” and a “breezy beach bar vibe,” according to the hotel brand. There are also regular live music performances at the dining spots.

In addition to its standard and premium rooms and suites, the San Diego Margaritaville offers two specialty suites that have direct access to the rooftop pool deck: the Jimmy Buffett Suite and Nothin’ But Breeze Suite, which offer a great amount of space and luxury.

Dawson Design Associates and Rossi Architecture partnered to give the hotel a blend of signature Margaritaville and California aesthetics. The property, which was formerly Hotel Solamar, underwent $30 million in renovations before its grand reopening as a Margaritaville.

Guests can Margaritaville’s signature “elevated yet playful” design throughout the hotel. Design elements include surfboards, framed Jimmy Buffet albums, murals of Volkswagen buses stacked with colorful surfboards, custom furniture handmade with reclaimed wood, and artwork from Mexican artists, as well as Margaritaville’s signature margarita glass chandelier comprised of Mexican-made glass blown pieces.
