As Revenue Plummets, Hyatt Stops Offering Adult Movies

October 16, 2015

Hyatt Hotels is doing away with on-demand adult entertainment in guest rooms, the company said this week. Adult content will not be introduced into any new properties and “will be either discontinued or phased out of all hotels.” It follows Marriot, Hilton Ritz-Carlton, Omni, Drury, and Nordic Choice Hotels, all of who have done away with in-room adult movies in the past few years.

Hotels have seen revenue from adult films—and movies rentals in general—drop steadily in recent years, as guests stream them free on their phones or laptops. PKF Hospitality Research reports that movie rental revenue per available hotel room dropped from $339 in 2000 to just $107 in 2014.
