Six Senses Hotel Planned for Colorado Rockies
by Briana Bonfiglio /Six Senses is bringing its environmentally conscious, wellness concept to Telluride, a quaint mountain town in the Colorado Rockies, in 2028.
This will be IHG Hotels & Resorts’ first luxury hotel and residences in the North American Mountain West region. It’s also part of Six Senses’ planned expansion in the United States – in 2026, the brand has properties opening in the South Carolina Islands and Napa County, California.
“Becoming an active part of the community is hugely important to us and so where better to begin our North American mountain adventure than Telluride, with the global sophistication of Mountain Village and eclectic old-world nature of the town below,” said Six Senses CEO Neil Jacobs. “Having lived in the Colorado Rockies in the 1980s, I can attest to the mountain environment lending itself to the expression of our values around wellness and sustainable development today.”
Six Senses Telluride will have 77 guest rooms and 24 residences, located in a box canyon among the San Jose Mountains. The resort will offer an extensive ski concierge team, plus an Experience Team to assist with other adventures in the warmer months, such as hiking, biking, fishing, and rafting, and recommending the best dining spots in town.
Developers at The Vault Home Collection are using natural elements with local, historical significance. They’re also complying with the town code for the exteriors, blending stone and cedar siding. Architects with Vault Design and designers with Rose Ink Workshop are incorporating warm, light pallets and natural materials in the interiors as well.
“We are delighted to be joining forces with Six Senses. The spectacular Colorado landscape, sublime snow conditions, and quaint community-feel of Mountain Village inspired us to lay roots here,” said Matthew Shear, of The Vault Home Collection. “This project is the culmination of our ongoing collaboration with Six Senses to open this premier mountain destination to the world’s most discerning travelers and residents. Our shared vision is to ensure Six Senses Telluride is nothing short of spectacular.”
The hotel will feature Telluride’s only rooftop pool venue. It will also have a specialty restaurant and a speakeasy bar. Six Senses Spa Telluride will have single and double treatment rooms, a sauna, steam and hammam, and a cryotherapy bath.
