AMResorts is planning to open five new properties in Mexico this year, executives announced at Tianguis Turistico, under the company's Dreams, Now and Sunscape brands.

That includes the late 2019 opening of the 605-room Dreams Acapulco Resort & Spa, which will be set on Playa Icacos on the Miguel Alemán coast of Acapulco. The property will have seven restaurants, four bars and lounges, and a Dreams Spa by Pevonia.

In June, the company will open the Now Emerald Cancun Resort & Spa between the Caribbean Sea and the Nichupte Lagoon, in Cancun, Mexico, eight minutes from the airport. The beachfront resort will have 427 guestrooms and suites.

Also in June, the first Sunscape-branded property in Akumal will open. The 360-room Sunscape Akumal Beach Resort & Spa will have four pools and family-friendly activities, such as the Explorer's Club and Core Zone Teens Club, as well as access to the nearby historical and ecological offerings of Tulum and Cobá.

The Sunscape Star Cancun Resort & Spa will open in November, near the ruins of the Mayan Riviera and next to the Puerto Cancun Golf Club. The property will offer four pools and a number of family-friendly water sports.

Finally, in December, the Now Natura Riviera Cancun Resort & Spa will open its doors. Ten minutes from the airport, the resorts will have 556 rooms, a lazy river, waterfalls, water park amenities, and a grotto bar.

"Despite the challenges present in the market, expansion throughout Mexico remains one of our major priorities," Alex Zozaya, CEO of Apple Leisure Group, said in a statement. "We remain bullish on the country's long-term potential and are committed to working closely with local officials to help Mexico reach its full potential."

Officials also shared new details about their plans to rebrand three properties under the recently launched Reflect Resorts & Spas brand. The resorts will operate as Reflect Cancun Resort & Spa, Reflect Los Cabos Resort & Spa, and Reflect Nuevo Vallarta Resort & Spa. They will also roll out enhanced facilities and amenities in line with the new branding, such as experiences inspired by local cuisine and culture, as well as more activities and entertainment. All three resorts will continue to offer the brand's signature Unlimited-Luxury vacation concept.

Looking further ahead, AMResorts is moving forward with recently announced deals to open the Breathless Cancun Resort & Spa in 2020 and the Breathless Tulum Resort & Spa in 2021. In the Caribbean, the company is also planning to open the Secrets St. Martin Resort & Spa in March 2020.
