Celebrating the Brand-New Treasure Beach Village at Beaches Turks and Caicos

PROVIDENCIALES, TURKS AND CAICOS – Hundreds of reporters, social media influencers, TV and movie stars and their families gathered for a three-night grand opening celebration of the brand-new Treasure Beach Village at Beaches Turks and Caicos from May 14 to 17. 

The long weekend packed in on-site and off-site activities and nightly parties culminating with a star-studded Saturday night. Celebrities, like actors Jesse Eisenberg and Chad Michael Murray, and a slew of TV personalities, hit the pink carpet in the Treasure Beach Village lobby alongside Adam Stewart, executive chairman of Sandals International, to chat about the beloved all-inclusive, family-friendly resort’s newest expansion.  

It all ended with fireworks over the beach and a performance by rock band American Authors singing their hit “Best Day of My Life.” Stewart also addressed attendees from onstage during the party, saying, “this new village is what we call Beaches 2.0.”  

“It is a commitment to the future of the Caribbean. It is a commitment to the ultimate family vacationing in the Caribbean. It’s a commitment to the people of the Caribbean. It’s a commitment to our customers that come year after year,” Stewart said. 

From the sunset cocktail hour and curated dine around on Thursday night, to a full-blown Caribbean Block Party at the Italian Village pool on Friday, to the grand finale on Saturday, Sandals went all out to celebrate this official launch of Beaches 2.0, cementing this as an important turning point for the Beaches brand. 

The weekend gave TMR time to check out all that Treasure Beach Village, which opened in March, has to offer for travel advisors and their clients. Here’s what we thought of the new addition. 

Fresh Design and Atmosphere 

Treasure Beach Village breathes new life into Beaches Turks and Caicos, which originally opened in 1997 and now has five distinct villages. The lobby is an open-air concept that allows you to see right out to the ocean when you first arrive. It incorporates white, light creme, and pastel peach and teal hues for an extra breezy and fun feel throughout. 

The Treasure Beach and Key West Village, the second-most-recently-opened area that debuted in 2013, now sit on opposite ends of the resort, and while they contrast the rest of the property in their design, they also blend in seamlessly layout-wise and are natural extensions of the already vibrant resort. Each village has its own lobby, but once you’re past that, it’s one big property. 

Keep in mind: Much of what Treasure Beach has to offer is available to all Beaches Turks and Caicos guests, regardless of which village they are staying in. Golf cart rides run every 10 minutes for easy access, or walking the pathway along the beach gets you place-to-place with the scenery of the island’s famous turquoise waters.   

That means Treasure Beach Village’s lagoon-style pool, sitting close to the ocean with an infinity edge, should be a popular spot this summer. In addition to traditional loungers, the pool area has large nooks with couches and tables, as well as cabanas, so there’s lots of space to get comfortable and spend the day vegging out. 

Modern Accommodations and Amenities 

Treasure Beach Village offers 101 multi-bedroom suites that frame the pool and all face the ocean, many with ocean views but not all. We stayed in the Treasure Beach Concierge Suite on the second floor with a balcony and pool view. It had two full bathrooms, a king bed, bunk beds, and a couch with a pull-out trundle bed.  

Of all the new room categories, this one has the least space, yet it is still a decent size. It can sleep a maximum of six guests, though we’d recommend larger families go with the Oceanview Two-Story Suites or Oceanview and Penthouse Concierge Suites.

The basic concierge suite did not have bath or soaking tubs, but it did have all the other bells and whistles: a coffeemaker, a microwave, adult- and kid-sized robes, wardrobe space, and plenty of USB and electrical outlets. There are also playful touches, like a tic-tac-toe table cornered in a breakfast nook and pastel colored accent walls. 

For families or larger groups who really want to splurge, the CrystalSky 4-Bedroom Reserve Villas and Chairman’s Penthouse Suite are now the pinnacle of luxury at Beaches Turks and Caicos and situated right on Grace Bay Beach. 

Concierge suite guests get butler service and can check in at the upstairs Concierge Lounge for a more personalized experience. The village also boasts the new Starfish Cinema on the second floor and the BRÜ Coffee Bar on the ground floor just beside the lobby. 

Quality Dining and Service 

Pinta Food Hall and Butch’s Island Chophouse are the two newcomers to Beaches Turks and Caicos’ slate of 24 restaurants. They wear the same oceanic colors and airy feel that the rest of Treasure Beach Village brings to the resort. 

We made sure to visit both these restaurants on the first day we arrived. Pinta Food Hall was great for lunch because you can choose from four types of cuisine: Asian, Italian, Caribbean, and Mexican. The plates are small, so if you’re hungry, you can order a lot and try many different dishes. 

Butch’s Island Chophouse did not disappoint – from the Island Bloom blooming onion appetizer to surf and turf entree to brownie sundae with a twist for dessert, we enjoyed every bite. This is the first Butch’s Island Chophouse at a Beaches resort, with others located at select Sandals Resorts, paying tribute to the later Sandals founder Gordon “Butch” Stewart.

At Treasure Beach Village, you can also order room service, including breakfast ordered the night before, which is exactly what we did the first morning. Service was prompt, and we ate right on the balcony, which has a full table and cushioned chairs for relaxed, private dining.  

At every dining venue we visited throughout the resort, we were met with a warm welcome and speedy but thorough service. Even after only a couple of short days, we began seeing familiar faces on staff who recognized us. While walking the beautifully landscaped grounds, there was always someone around to ask how our stay was going – or point us in the right direction to get to our next stop in the resort. 

Memorable Experiences 

From watersports and catamaran cruises to Mahjong, pickleball, and workout classes, there is a long list of things to do during a trip to Beaches Turks and Caicos for both kids and adults. For some excursions, Sandals partners with Caribbean-based tour operator Island Routes. For other activities, like snorkeling, there is a beachside watersports desk near the Italian Village. Still others, like the resort’s long-running Sesame Street Parade, are there for families to just show up and enjoy. 

We did something a little different and journeyed on the Reading Road Trip with the Sandals Foundation, the company’s nonprofit organization that is dedicated to youth programs and disaster relief in eight Caribbean destinations. Representatives from the foundation told us the resort offers this about once a week, depending on customer request, so it’s best to inquire about it ahead of time. 

The road trip entailed a 15-minute shuttle ride over to a local elementary school – in our case, to Thelma Lightbourne Primary School, though there are several schools that participate in the program. Our Sandals Foundation ambassadors split us up into small groups, then accompanied us in two different classrooms of 5- and 6-year-old students. They’d given us a heads up that the kids would be very excited to see us – and they were not mistaken. The first class of children ran up to hug us before we all introduced ourselves, then each sat down at a table to chat, read, and color to inspire engaged learning. 

This fun and rewarding two hours is great for clients who want a break from their days in the sun, to get out into the community, and experience the island on a deeper level. 

What’s Next for Beaches

Treasure Beach Village at Beaches Turks and Caicos is just the beginning of what Sandals International has been touting as “Beaches 2.0.”  

Next year, the company will open Beaches Exuma in the Bahamas. The following years will see new Beaches resorts open in Barbados, Jamaica, and Saint Vincent and the Grenadines.
