Star of the Seas arrived in Port Canaveral on Saturday, Aug. 9, after operating an invitation-only pre-inaugural cruise for travel content creators and media between Ponce, Puerto Rico and Port Canaveral. The ship turned around the same day to operate another three-day invite-only sailing. TMR was onboard the initial sailing and got a sneak peek at some of the spaces and production shows onboard.

The ship is virtually identical to Icon of the Seas, with only a few small differences, like all new shows or the NYC-inspired Empire Supper Club on Icon of the Seas versus the Chicago-inspired Lincoln Park Supper Club on Star of the Seas. Or the addition of a hot tub on Star of the Seas near the AquaDome Market that’s not on Icon.
Additionally, the Pearl on Star of the Seas got an upgrade so that instead of being just one color at any given time, it can be multicolor.

Port Canaveral’s Official Welcome
On Aug. 12, Royal Caribbean and Port Canaveral held a traditional maritime plaque exchange to officially welcome the second Icon-class ship to its homeport.
“We are enormously proud of our longtime partnership with Royal Caribbean and very excited to have this magnificent new ship join their fleet of vessels homeported here,” said Canaveral Port Authority CEO and port director Capt. John Murray.

Star of the Seas will sail its first official maiden voyage on Aug. 16, which will be followed by a naming ceremony on Aug. 20, led by music icon and ship godmother Diana Ross.
Star of the Seas offers seven-day Eastern and Western Caribbean sailings from Port Canaveral.
