This week, citizenM celebrated the newest opening in its growing “affordable luxury” hotel portfolio, citizenM Austin Downtown, the debut property for citizenM in the city.

The hotel sits in a 17-story building on Colorado Street right in the heart of downtown Austin, not far from Lady Bird Lake, Congress Ave, and Austin City Limits.

It offers 344 rooms, all with XL king-sized beds (“everything is bigger in Texas,” citizenM said in its announcement) and HD widescreen TVs, along with the signature citizenM living room concept, which offers a space to bleisure travelers to work. Also onsite is canteenM, a snack outlet that is open 24/7, along with a 24/7 gym, rooftop bar, and pool.

The hotel is also decorated with pieces from artists, something that citizenM does for all of its properties. For the Austin location, citizenM tapped Hilda Palafox, a Mexico City-based artist who has collaborated with brands such as Vans and Google, for its rooftop mural.

“We are thrilled to open the doors to citizenM’s first Austin-based hotel,” said Robin Chadha, Chief Brand Officer. “Austin beats to its own drum – rich with cultural diversity through delicious eateries and vibrant nightlife options – and we are excited to be a part of this bustling community. With our curated selection of artwork, rooftop pool, and this prime location, citizenM Austin Downtown will offer mobile citizens a great base to experience this exciting city.”

The hotel is the 34th hotel in the citizenM portfolio and part of a growing North American focus for the brand—citizenM’s growing portfolio now includes new hotels in Chicago, Miami, and more.
